Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located within the Office of the Chief of Staff of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. The position is based in Tripoli, Libya (Tripoli is classified as a Hardship "E" duty station and a non-family duty station). The incumbent will be under the overall supervision of the Chief of Staff (CoS). Responsibilities The Special Assistant will report directly to the CoS. Within limits of delegated authority, the Special Assistant will be responsible for performing the following duties: Coordination and Facilitation - Provides substantive and practical support to the CoS in implementing the Mission’s mandate; Keeps the CoS informed on all matters requiring his/her personal attention, assists in formulating options as to how those matters might be handled, and ensures appropriate follow-up as directed. - Organizes and manages the CoS' meetings and Mission events, prepares written summaries and conducts follow-up activities, as appropriate; Coordinates/drafts correspondence for the CoS' signature. - Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with mission components, the authorities, the broader UN family, donors and other national…
