OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), mandated by the World Health Assembly to stop transmission of wild poliovirus, has reduced global incidence of polio by 99.9%. It is a partnership spearheaded by WHO, Rotary International, US CDC and UNICEF and supported by BMGF and Gavi. The programme supports Member States in carrying out surveillance and immunization campaigns and strengthening routine immunization, in order to stop polio transmission. The GPEI website www.polioerdication.org serves to inform internal and external stakeholders on the global work of the GPEI programme. It is managed and maintained by WHO. The WHO staff member will work closely with the resource mobilization and communications team to manage web site content and structure to serve as web manager, and further develop technical content solutions for the website. The work will require engaging with WHO staff across the department and in other departments, and with vendors and GPEI partners.
